On Sunday my Mum and I decided to make the most of the lovely sunshine and go to Waterperry Gardens for an afternoon walk. We had been wanting to go for the gardens for some time as we often popped into the garden centre and tea rooms (for the best homemade scones) when I was at university in Oxford. Waterperry is a stone’s throw away from Oxford, just outside the village of Wheatley.
The gardens include a formal knot, a rose garden, a water-lily canal, orchards and a river side walk. There is plenty to explore and we were both impressed with the various different parts of the garden that each had their own unique character. There were lots of visitors but you wouldn’t have noticed as it was so peaceful. For someone that gets anxious easily I find being in gardens like this to be really calming and a great way to ‘escape’. I am not one for walking in the countryside often but I do enjoy exploring places such as Waterperry where there is lots of colour and sights to take in. I would highly recommend Waterperry for an afternoon out in the Oxfordshire countryside.
Currently at Waterperry there is an exhibition of amazing sculptures by Jenny Pickford entitled ‘SuperNature’. The sculptures were dotted around the gardens and ranged from smaller installations such as the lilies to large sculptures like the thistle. Set amongst the autumn colours the sculptures looked beautiful.
As I have been getting into blogging I have been taking my camera out with me more and therefore my smaller handbags weren’t cutting it. I decided I wanted to get a medium size rucksack that I could take out with me in order to have my hands free for taking photos. I have recently purchased a couple of Cath Kidston bags and have been really impressed with the quality so I had a look on their website for a rucksack. The ‘Leopard Flower Smart Backpack’ caught my eye. It’s got an understated leopard print/ floral design with black as the main colour. This is perfect for me as I wanted to get something that would go with most of my outfits and wasn’t too ‘out there’.
I used the rucksack for the first time on Sunday and I am so happy with it. It’s the perfect size allowing me to carry my everyday items (purse, makeup, keys etc) along with my camera and notebook. I could have easily fitted more into it. It is the perfect ‘blogger’ bag or university bag with a sleeve to fit a laptop of up to 13″. It also features a large pocket on the front giving you easy to access to your essential items and has adjustable straps on the back. I would really recommend having a look at Cath Kidston if you are in the market for a new bag!
Can you recommend any other interesting places to walk around Oxfordshire?
